The socialist bottom line: confiscating “the mean of production” translates to confiscating your 401(k), your 403(B), your Keogh plan, your Corporate or Public Retirement Plan, anything you own that is valued by or holds corporate stocks, bonds, or other corporate debt.
Oops! Did I just say that? You bet I did! Have you heard that from AOC, Bernie Sanders, the Democratic Socialist Party (DSP)? If so, I haven’t heard it. No wonder the DSP Platform advocates doing away with the Senate and making the Supreme Court subservient to the president! Incidentally, I have not heard this from the Republican Party, which seems to inevitably miss every boat, either!
By the way, don’t look for the government to shell out the $73 trillion market value of all those assets that the socialists plan to confiscate, as required by the 5Th Amendment. If the government did print that much money, the dollar would be worth nothing.
In Fact those corporate securities represent ownership of the means of production. Ownership in arguably the most functionally democratic way possible. To repeat, the vast bulk of everyone’s retirement savings is in ownership of those assets! Think about that the next time you hear AOC or Bernie blithely arguing that we should confiscate (take over) the means of production. Ditto for the Democratic (sic) Socialist Party!

Last line of the 5Th Amendment: “nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.”
